BASQUE PELOTA NEAR SAINT-JEAN-DE-LUZ
A quarter of an hour from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, discover Basque pelota at the Kostakoak fronton in Bidart: Grand Chistera shows and lessons all summer long.
Between Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Biarritz, the village of Bidart boasts one of the finest open-court frontons in the Basque Country. About fifteen minutes from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, it is well worth the trip for a Grand Chistera evening.
Three players per team, a long wicker chistera, a spectacular game of movement: matches take place on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 9 PM, from June to September, with a curtain-raiser by the club's children at 8:30 PM.
A must for lovers of Basque tradition and curious visitors passing along the coast alike.
